
2024 Miami Summit Success Story
Summary
The 2024 Global Motherhood Leadership Summit (GMLS) was successfully held from September 28-30, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida, United States. Organized by the Post-Pandemic Leadership Research Institute (PLRI), the summit brought together diverse leaders from across the globe to explore the intersection of motherhood and leadership.
Created by Dr. Yanli He, PhD in Organizational Leadership and Co-founder and President of PLRI, the GMLS focused on empowering mothers in leadership roles by applying Organizational Leadership theory to motherhood. The summit was structured around four key themes: (a) Leadership Traits for Mothers, (b) Motherhood Leadership Behaviors, (c) Motherhood Leadership Dynamics, and (d) Virtual Team Leadership for Mothers. The GMLS marked the first-ever global summit dedicated to integrating the dimensions of organizational leadership into motherhood in practice, emphasizing the interconnectedness of motherhood, leadership, wisdom, beauty, and ethics.
Diverse Participants
The GMLS brought together diverse voices of Mothers from different countries, positions, ages, education levels, and fields. Overall, mothers in leadership roles from the U.S., Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, and China attended this summit. Impressively, Miss Worldwide 2024, Tetyana Didenko, and her daughter participated in the summit by sharing their inspiring stories. Participants ranged in age from 26 to 54 and held positions ranging from government directors to corporate presidents, CEOs, managers, administrators, graduate students, business founders, and owners. Their educational backgrounds varied from associate degrees to bachelor’s, master’s, and PhDs. Fields represented included government, education, consulting, finance, accounting, law, personal services, healthcare, design, real estate, and church.

Topics covered during the summit included: “The Journey of a Mother in Leadership Since the Late 90s,” “The Impact of Unique Traits on Motherhood and Leadership Effectiveness,” “Mastering Time,” “The Power Pose,” “Mastering the Nonverbal Code,” “Financial Management,” “Overcoming Procrastination,” “Staying Motivated,” “A single business mom’s lessons learned in motherhood”, and “The Influence of Motherhood Leadership on Virtual Team Longevity.” The presentations emphasized leadership traits (e.g. loyalty, care, empathy, and adaptability), communication, motivation, employee engagement, conflicts resolution, relationship building, ongoing learning, and lesson-learned and how those contribute to both their personal and professional lives.
Panel Discussions
The GMLS hosted open forums on topics related to motherhood and women’s leadership, encouraging audience participation. All attendees, including their spouses and children, were invited to share their stories and insights related to the summit’s themes. The panel discussions were diverse, insightful, and inclusive.
Panel 1 explored the unique traits of mothers and how these traits influence both family life and professional roles.
Panel 2 discussed the leadership skills and perspectives mothers gain in the workplace and how these influence family relationships, children’s development, and overall well-being.
Panel 3 addressed the challenges of balancing motherhood and leadership, and how mothers navigate these challenges to build successful relationships in both areas.
Panel 4 examined the opportunities and challenges of remote work, the leadership skills gained in virtual teams, and how mothers can thrive in long-term virtual team settings.
Mother’s Roundtable
At the summit’s networking party, all mothers were warmly invited to share their stories and offer the wisdom they’ve gained through their unique experiences. From navigating parenthood challenges and balancing career and family to resolving conflicts and overcoming personal struggles, each story provided inspiration and valuable insights. The roundtable served as an opportunity for mothers to connect, offer support, and empower each other through their shared journeys.
Looking Ahead
The GMLS emphasized the interconnectedness of motherhood, leadership, wisdom, beauty, and ethics, incorporating the dimensions of leadership in motherhood, and fostering passion, unity, collaboration, and innovation among mothers. All attendees enjoyed the conversations, learned from each other’s experiences, and gained confidence in how to translate motherhood into effective leadership. The summit’s success has laid the foundation for future gatherings. Moving forward, organizers plan to host the Global Motherhood Leadership Summit annually to continue empowering mothers in leadership, fostering their impact on future generations, and leading positive change for the Kingdom’s eternity.
